A Rare Tall French Art Deco’Erotic Flame Dancer’ Lamp on Marble, cast in cold-painted spelter, depicting a stretching semi-nude dancer balancing her Flaming Torch aloft as the glass lamp shade, signed by Molins Balleste, created circa 1925. This period lamp, is cast in cold-painted silver and gold spelter with a frosted yellow flame-shade, on a stepped square pyramid marble plynth. All of which embodies the aesthetics of the periods glamour and seductive-design, created in the chryselephantine manner. This semi-naked dancer balances on tip-toes, stretching upwards whilst balancing the bowl containing the glass flame shade, as part of her performance. Her head is cast back smiling adoringly at the light above, which she displays to dramatic effect. All this creates the dynamic and streamlined appearance to her shape and statuesque quality. All is in lovely condition, free from any breaks or repairs, with just the usual tiny dents-scratches to the cold-painted finish. The dancer is firmly attached to the three-tiered specimen marble base by a large bolt fixing, with the lamp wiring running through her body into the stone base, exiting to the rear of the marble base, all neat and tidy in design. The lamp itself takes a standard-fitting bayonet bulb, which works fine and has at some time been re-wired. But as with all old electrical items, it should be tested and checked by a qualified electrician before prolonged use. The textured frosted glass flame shade is free from any cracks with just some roughness to the opening from years of use and does diffuse the light beautifully. The lamp is signed’Balleste’ in raised script, to the sole of her right foot, please see picture. This tall & stylish period lamp is an impressive 630mm’s tall, by 220mm’s long & 120mm’s deep, and is very weighty, nearly 10 kg’s due to it’s size & marble base. The glass shade is held by an old French spring clasp fixing to the bowl shaped-gallery. All pieces are very well wrapped & packed individually in strong boxes to secure safety in transit, and are sent recorded parcel post.
