Gorgeous Rare Dressel Kister Flapper Boudoir Lamp. This lovely lady is dressed to the nines in a fur-trimmed vibrant sapphire blue coat with a mustard-yellow lining. The fur is beautifully painted with a very fine brush so you can see all the individual hairs, then it is slightly blurred so it actually looks soft. She wears gray gloves that match the fur trim, apricot colored stockings and a cloche (french for bell) hat which was so popular in the 1920s. She pauses at a stoplight (modeled into a lamp) to reapply her lipstick. The stoplight is a really sweet replica of a very early 1920s stoplight, when the poles were elaborate works of sculpted cast metal art. She has been shopping and has 2 big beautiful hat boxes. The one she has placed at her feet is a trinket box. Marked on base with the Dressel Kister. Blue bishop’s crozier. (C 1920) and painter’s mark. The award winning Dressel Kister and Cie – founded in Passau, Germany in the mid 1800s – produced Art Deco porcelain masterpieces which today are considered the creme de la creme for half doll collectors. Dressel Kister displayed at many World Fairs and Exhibitions, and won 12 gold medals, two silver medals and six Grand Prix awards. This factory’s production of porcelain figures gave it an international reputation. First class artists and sculptors were involved… Producing high class figures which won many international prizes… (Ludwig Danckert Directory of European Porcelain). Condition – Very excellent professional repair to lipstick and to some of the fingers on right hand. Museum quality repairs, you won’t notice them at all on display. There is very minimal rubbing here and there to paint, especially trinket box; and one of the little tabs inside the box lid is missing. Overall excellent display condition, imo. Photos taken with daylight bulbs for accurate color, though monitor colors may vary. We’ve had this treasure for years, displayed in a china cabinet, never used as a lamp. It has a bayonet socket and is wired for Europe. If you did want to use as a lamp in US, all you’d need to do is replace the plug, and use b22d euro base bulbs, which are readily available. LED bulbs are best for works of art, because they don’t get hot. As for a lamp shade, you would need one with a slip uno fitter (fitter sits beneath bulb). Very rare piece; we are downsizing our life-long collection, hard to let this one go, but hope she finds an appreciative home. 13 inches tall overall; lady is about 8.5 inches tall. I’ve got other Deco items up for sale, please have a look. Terms of Sale – Please read.
